Koutsouras

Around the village there are beaches with coarse black sand or pebbles and calm waters. The main beach is in front of the old village and is well organized. Along the beach there are many trees, under which you can rest.

Makrigialos

Distance from South Coast: 4km
General: Is the next village, east of Koutsouras. At the port, there are some bars and taverns that can be a good choice for evening entertainment.

Agia Fotia

Distance from South Coast: 10km
General: It is a small bay formed at the mouth of a small stream flowing down from the surrounding mountains. The area is full of platanus and tamarisks. The bay is hidden between tall mountains and rocks creating a magical landscape. At the eastern end of the beach, there is a water source coming out of a rock with clean fresh water, near the sea!

Ahlia

Distance from South Coast: 7km
It is a small bay surrounded by pine trees and tall mountains. The beautiful beach is sandy and has blue waters. There are several trees that offer shade to visitors while the sea is almost always calm. The area is ideal for family holidays and relaxing.

Chrysi or Donkey Island

Distance from South Coast: 22 km to Ierapetra and 8 miles by boat.
General: It is a flat island famous for its tropical waters that include the entire color palette of blue and green, the protected forest of big cedar juniper and thousands of broken shells that make up the sand pink. The boat from Ierapetra will leave you there after a 50 minutes journey to the south side of the island where there is the only port is Vougiou Mati. There is also a tavern where you can enjoy a meal.

Vai

Distance from South Coast: 75km
The most popular beach in Lassithi, tropical, with fine sand and crystal blue waters. The combination of this beautiful beach with the rare palm forest behind it, creates an exotic landscape. Vai has been declared an aesthetic forest and habitat with rare flora and fauna. It is the largest palm forest in Europe.
